Overall Recommendation: Go get some!

My wife and I decided we were hungry one day and craving some sushi. We were feeling lazy and didn’t want to drive 25 minutes to our normal spot just for some lunch, so we went to Land and Sea which had recently opened up in our old Chinese takeout spot.

I got Tom Yam Soup (Apparently a cousin to Tom Yum).

Flavorful, no pea pods (good for me) but it was weird with the broccoli, bamboo, and cabbage in it because I wasn’t expecting those, but overall had a decent flavor. It’s creamier than what I’m used to and had very little spice, so good for a white person to try and get exposure to the flavor of something with nam prik pao as a base without all the heat.

As a bonus, for all my vegetarian friends, they use tofu not shrimp, so from what I can tell it’s vegan. I don’t know if they use a chicken stock, but based on the flavor I would guess vegetable or miso stock.

We also got a bunch of maki rolls to try.

The Spicy Kani was really good. That’s one of my favorite maki rolls. Not overly spicy, great rice to kani ratio.

The X’Mas is essentially a tuna and avocado roll. This was not my bag. I’m not a fan of avocado. BUT, I did try it, and it was really good. If you know me, I love tuna sashimi, tuna poke, spicy tuna, canned tuna, tuna steak… I love tuna. I’ve had some really bad tuna in sushi before. This tuna was really good. I can’t give a bad remark because of personal preference with the avocado. I would recommend this to people who like tuna sashimi and avocado.

The inari roll is a seasoned tofu and cucumber. This is the first time I’ve had tofu in a maki roll. At first it was weird, but it wasn’t off putting, just because of never having something like this before. I do like it, I think it would be really good with tomago on top. I feel like these flavors would all meld together well. I’m going to have to request that next time.

Finally I got the Unagi maki roll. For those who don’t know, unagi is eel. So this was eel and cucumber. It was very flavorful, the eel was not overpowering, and for the first time having eel in a maki roll, I wasn’t disappointed. I think personal preference: I prefer unagi nigiri and not unagi maki, but I still really enjoyed this.

Overall, I really enjoyed the sushi. We ordered way too much because we wanted to try some new things and see it all was, and the serving sizes did not disappoint for the amount we paid.

I recommend you check them out!
